Mr. Phillip Ajjarapu

Phil Ajjarapu is currently in his forth year as Assistant Choir Director at Anderson High School. Receiving a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the Cleveland Institute of Music at Case Western Reserve University in 1999, he studied choral conducting with Dr. Robert Dunn and orchestral conducting with Dr. Gary Ciepluch and Carl Topilow. After graduating from CIM, he played viola professionally with a number of orchestras, most notably the Orlando Philharmonic and Orlando Ballet orchestras. Prior to his appointment at Anderson, he served as the Director of Orchestras and Assistant Choir Director at Lake Zurich High School in Lake Zurich, Illinois. In addition to his classical studies, he is an accomplished bassist in the live music scene in Austin. While a member of Liquid Soul, a jazz group based in Chicago, he received a Grammy nomination for best contemporary jazz album. He lives happily in his new home with his wife, Deena, and their two dogs, Sadie and Jude.
